Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about Hatchi? Here are answers to some of the most common ones. If you don't find what you're looking for, feel free to reach out on our community channels.
What is Hatchi?
Hatchi is a cozy multiplayer pet breeding game with incremental elements.
Is Hatchi fully released?
No, Hatchi is currently open for public playtest as of 2/20/2026. Plans for full release depend on playtester feedback.
How can I report bugs?
Please report bugs on Discord or email bugs@playhatchi.com.
Will player data be wiped?
Yes, data will be wiped once the game fully releases. There are no planned wipes during the playtest. I try to ensure that all updates are backwards compatible, fully tested, and non-breaking for player data, but it is a test and things may ultimately break.
Is Hatchi free to play?
Yes! Hatchi is currently a free-to-play passion project with no paid elements. There are no microtransactions or pay-to-win mechanics. Future monetization will be donation-based and cosmetic-only. Firebase is cheap until it isn't!
What platforms does Hatchi run on?
Hatchi runs directly in your web browser — no downloads required. Compatibility for mobile browsers is in progress.
Do I need an account to play?
You can start playing immediately as a guest. If you'd like to save your progress across devices, you can create an account with your email or sign in with Google. Some features require an account.
How does breeding work?
Each pet has genetic traits that can be passed to offspring including color, patterns, and personality traits. Offspring can inherit each parent's traits, with some being rarer than others.
Is my progress saved automatically?
Yes, your progress is saved automatically as you play. If you're signed in with an account, your data syncs across devices. Guest progress is stored locally in your browser.
Why Hatchi?
Hatchi is a passion project created by a single developer (me!) I grew up obsessively playing creature collectors and learning HTML/CSS to make the perfect user profile. I'm still pretty bad at it. This is intended to be the game I've always wanted to play: a cozy, approachable incremental game, with content and depth designed to play how you want to play instead of being restricted by dailies and FOMO.
